When travelling about the country we’re always somewhat excited to find some completely random ones. It’s not always possible to take the best photos from a moving vehicle, but I’ve tried!
Badger Brown Sign
A night time spot – hence the dark photo – but this badger was spotted on a brown sign pointing to Foxley Wood in Norfolk. Norfolk’s oldest remaining ancient woodland, managed by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust. Google suggests that there are some badger setts there, but Foxley Wood is actually most famous for its carpets of bluebells rather than an abundance of badgers. It looks like this particular badger though comes from the logo of The Wildlife Trusts under which the Norfolk Wildlife Trust sits.
Dinosaur Brown Sign
This has to be the weirdest brown sign we’ve spotted on our travels and it’s another one that we found on one of our many trips to Norfolk.
Glass Blowing Brown Sign
Directing people to Stourbridge Glass Quarter is this rather special brown sign depicting someone glass blowing.
Shopping Basket Brown Sign
Taken close to the Glass Blowing brown sign in Stourbridge this is one of those signs that I’m pretty sure I’ve seen in several places, but never seem to actually photograph. This particular one was pointing to Merry Hill which is a shopping centre in Brierley Hill, near Dudley.
Palm Tree Brown Sign
Penguin Brown Sign
Again in Torquay, Living Coasts was a marine zoo on the seafront, but one that was financially unable to re-open after the Coronavirus pandemic. Home to penguins it was therefore somewhat appropriate that a penguin appeared on the brown sign directing people there.
Wembley Brown Sign
As you approach Wembley on either the M1 or M25 you’re greeted with the sign of the Wembley arch on brown signs. A simple way of helping you know what you’re heading towards I guess. As someone who used to live in sight of Wembley back when it was the Twin Towers I also have vague recollection of them appearing on earlier brown signs. I wonder if any of them still exist?
